The Bombay Street Food is Asad Sheikh’s most glorious contribution to the culture of his native land, Bombay (Mumbai), and the bright and vibrant flavors of India. The restaurant evokes the sights and sounds of old Bombay, bringing the flavors of both traditional and street food vendors to Washington DC. Sheikh has spent nearly six to seven years bringing the piquancy of Indian cuisine to Washingtonians. Starting off in 2011 with Curry Mantra ( Fairfax, VA ), an Indian-based restaurant holding a whopping seating capacity of 45 within the first year - and 75 within the next. Subsequently, he set up a couple more in Falls Church, Vienna, and Alexandria (London Curry House). Years later, 1947 was opened in Sterling, VA.

Sheikh is proud to say that all these restaurants were awarded by The Washington Post, NOVA Magazine, and other local newspapers and magazines.

In order to stay focused and bring his long time dream of the Bombay-based street food concept to reality, Sheikh decided to sell all of his Northern Virginia restaurants to his best employees and other experienced restaurateurs who are still running it successfully as of now. Sheikh’s dream is to be the best of the best, all the way from the street of Bombay to the street of DC. Sheikh and his business partners traveled to Bombay and took inspiration directly from the streets of Bombay -where he grew up eating. The decorations in the new Bombay Street Food restaurant will definitely reflect the city of Bombay and its culture where he grew up, as well as the places they visited.

Asad Sheikh can’t go wrong when it comes to street tasting as he grew up eating and making a special trip with his best chefs in the house to try those tastes. He will stick to his words by making a statement “if you don’t like the taste, don’t pay and waste”.
